Incompetent Cervix
October 19, 2011
Incompetent cervix is a condition which causes the cervix to dilate prematurely. It is usually discovered after a woman miscarries during the second trimester of pregnancy. It is also sometimes discovered during an ultrasound or vaginal exam.
In cases of incompetent cervix, a cervical cerclage is generally performed in order to help prevent miscarriage.
