Stretch marks during pregnancy is as normal as breathing. Most women and girls will experience them in one form or another.

Stretch marks during pregnancy is as normal as breathing. Most women and girls will experience them in one form or another. Some of you may have experience rapid breast growth during puberty that caused you to get stretch marks on breasts and or hips, and yes everyone of you want to get rid of stretch marks and no one wants a single stretchmark.

All of your skin is fairly elastic, yet when rapid growth strikes such as with pregnancy the normal production of collagen (a major protein which makes up the connective tissue in your skin) is disrupted causing scaring and red lines to form.

You will notice them on your thighs, breasts, hips, and bottom and yes pregnancy is your number one contributor. Later I’ll address trying to improve collagen production to prevent stretch marks or at least prevent more stretch marks.

Some women and men alike may get stretchmarks from using steroid-containing creams or ointments (like Hydrocortisone) for longer than a few weeks. Sometimes high doses of oral corticosteroids for long periods of time.

Stretch marks may first appear as reddish or purplish lines that may seem to be indented, you may feel that your skins texture is changing in those areas.

Many times these marks (scars) will disappear over time. But as we all know we really don’t want them at all and we want to get rid of stretch marks sooner than later. Especially as summer approach’s and you want to fit into your favorite swim suit again.

Preventing Stretch Marks by Increasing Collagen Production.

No one can promise you that you can avoid stretch marks completely… however it is the opinion of this author that your skin has amazing abilities to do far beyond what you expect of it. If you take an active role to reduce stretch marks before they happen you may end up a happier woman.

By changing your diet to support collagen production you may be able to avoid some stretch marks. Also applying some masks and massage will greatly help your skin to give it a chance.

Here are some things to try:

You might consume foods that increase collagen production and benefit your skin. Soy products, such as soy milk, cheese and meat substitutes, contain genistein that helps block enzymes that break down and age the skin.

Dark green vegetables like spinach, kale and asparagus have lutein, which increases hydration and elasticity in skin. Red fruits and vegetables such as red peppers, beets and tomatoes have lycopenesl, an antioxidant that increases collagen production.

Using pregnancy stretch mark home remedies such as making a lotion made from extra virgin coconut butter mixed with vitamin E and a natural liquid C (I prefer opening capsules mixing them on a plastic wrap and directly applying them to the skin, apply for about 15 minutes) you can feed your skin with the wrap and you can rub it in after removing the wrap will do wonders for your skin. You may want to add a little dried kelp to your mix to feed your skin with the natural salts and iodine in kelp. Good stuff to reduce stretch marks, but a little messy. :O)

Another stretch marks treatment uses Vitamin C in a wrap containing avocado oil, which hydrates skin and is compatible with your skin’s natural oils. This also increases collagen in the dermis. Mix 2 teaspoons of avocado oil with 1/4 cup of honey and apply the belly using your fingertips. Rinse the wrap off with cool water after 15 minutes. Apply the wrap at least 3 times a week or more.

Please keep in mind that when you are in your third trimester it is best that you not spend to much time lying flat on your back…… Feel free to move around when applying wraps, oils, and lotions.

If you live near an ocean, you may want to go for frequent dips in the ocean (or take salts baths) and sun bathe 15 minutes on each side. Our bodies are made up of salts and water so it makes sense to go out and float around a little to feed your skin. It will feel great, take pressure off your spine, and the sun will help you with vitamin D production which will help you to feel better emotionally.

This is off the subject a little….. but…here I go….. the sun may be less your enemy than you may think. After sunbathing most everyone goes home and washes off all of the great nutrients that their skin has produced to protect it. The more of your natural oils that stay on your skin the better it is for your skin. Most sun screens are not healthy. Limit your sun exposure using your wisdom. If you start to get pink, move out of the sun.

Showering (rinsing) or bathing using only water for your skin (no wash cloths) is the recommendation of this author.

Use soap for the hair on top of your head only…..a little on the under arms…..and never on the v space.

Talk to your gynecologist… you may find it hard to believe that soap and douches actually cause itching, and ruin the good environment of your vaginal space. Water only is truly best for your skin and v space. The soap and douche companies have sold you a bill of goods. Trust me… you will feel cleaner and smell fresher without the soaps.

Now back on the subject of stretchmarks.

Please keep in mind that when you are in your last trimester it is best that you not spend to much time lying flat on your back…… Feel free to move around when applying wraps, oils, and lotions.

Another way that might help avoid some stretch marks is through gentle stretching using simple massage techniques found in the Pregnancy Pain Relief book. But you will not want to start working on your skin till after the first trimester .

Why you ask?????

You can massage yourself with nutrients talked about in this article….. but it is recommended that you wait till after your first trimester to receive a massage from someone else.

As for your skin….you have three layers of skin that are working independently of each other… by using the techniques as they are given in the Pregnancy Pain Relief book you are re-distributing collagen between the layers of your skin.

Moving these collagens can help protect the skin from some damage… Collagens tend to migrate to the points of least resistance and get caught in pockets… by using the stretches in the Pregnancy Pain Relief book you will assist your skin in redistributing them. Hopefully making for less scaring.

This brings up something I haven’t mentioned …..there are are actually several types of collagens one of which actually acts as a lubricant between the layers of skin. This is the one that gets driven into pockets and needs redistribution.

After doing these gentle stretches apply your oil, lotion, or wrap. Massage them in to help drive the nutrients into the skin.

Remember the above is not a guarantee…its a suggestion for you to take action to do what ever you can to prevent stretch marks before they happen. Work now to prevent stretch marks after pregnancy.

How to Get Rid of StretchMarks or Make Them less noticeable:

Truth is you can never get rid of the stretch marks completely. Lotions, oils, creams, extra virgin coconut butter with vitamin E and C can only do so much.

There is a product that makes bold claims that’s offering free samples all you pay is the $2:00 shipping fee. I’d like feed back from you on it….that product is called Celtrixa they offer a free sample if you click on the name Celtrixa you will be taken to an offer with a video on how it works. Please if you give it a try report back to me….I really want you to get the best products for you from this site.

Tanning treatments such as sprays and lotions such as in salons work well to help cover up the stretch marks. That said….tanning booths or beds don’t work as well because the scars don’t tan very well. Plus to be honest tanning beds and booths are not healthy for you or your skin.

You might try body makeup however if you want to go into the water most all makeup even though it may say water resistant still tends to come off after spending time in the water.

Mederma Stretch Marks Therapy, it does help stretch marks but tends too take a long time to get a good result. It works best when the stretch marks first appear and as long as there isn’t any open soars.

Bio Oil for Scars and stretch marks after reading the reviews on this product I decided to include it into this article. Many seem to think it works for them.

Some of the latest trends in beach fashion are coming to your rescue. Shorts and long swim suit tops with high necks make hiding scars easier by covering breast, hip and thigh stretch makers.

You can’t make stretch marks go away entirely without the help of a dermatologist (a doctor who specializes in treating skin problems) or plastic surgeon. These doctors may use one of many types of treatments — from actual surgery to techniques such as microdermabrasion and laser treatment — that reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

These techniques are expensive and stretch marks will probably diminish over time anyway.

You may want to discuss medical treatments with your dermatologist. Laser and light therapy can help stimulate the skin and increase collagen production, and may be an option if you are experiencing not having luck increasing collagen production on your own.

Of course this is after your baby is born. :O)

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is used by some for stretch mark removal.

A chemical peel (also referred to as chemical exfoliation) refers to the controlled removal of varying layers of the epidermis and superficial dermis with the use of a "wounding agent. The most common wounding agents are various preparations of phenol (i.e., Bakers solution), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), Jessners solution (i.e., resorcin, salacylic, and lactic acid), or alpha-hydroxy acids. Chemical peels are most often used for cosmetic purposes and are used to treat facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. They can also be used to remove pre-cancerous skin growths, soften acne facial scars and control acne.

Dermabrasion is a method of controlled surgical scraping of the skin using a rough wire brush, or a burr containing particles attached to a motorized handle. It can be used on small areas of skin or the entire face and has been used for a number of years to treat a variety of dermatologic conditions such as acne, facial scars and in cosmetic facial resurfacing.

More recently, microdermabrasion, also called "particle-beam resurfacing," is also being used to treat acne as well as other epidermal abnormalities of the skin such as fine lines, wrinkles and mild acne scarring. It uses sterile micro-crystals which are applied in a stream to the skin’s surface and then suctioned away to exfoliate the stratum corneum.

This treatment for getting rid of stretch marks is not recommended by this author.

Laser Treatment for Stretch Marks?

What laser treatments for stretch marks can do is they can lessen the depth of stretch marks. Results are no equal with all and some women find greater improvement than others.

The laser therapy works by stimulating the deeper layers of skin to produce more elastin and collagen which can help to diminish but not erase the stretch mark scars.

Laser treatment for stretch marks works best when the stretch marks are still fresh (reddish). On older (silvery white) stretch marks the treatment could have little or no effect. Also for those with darker skin there is the danger of hyperpigmentation and the laser treatment is therefore unadvisable.

In closing, always do good research and be confident in your decisions. The more you do to take care of you and your baby the better your life will be.

Always consult with your doctor about any treatment or therapy you may wish to try.

I hope this has been informative and helpful…

Leg pain occurs frequently in pregnant women and is most likely to occur late in the second trimester or in third trimester. About one out of two pregnant women are prone to let pain, cramping and muscle spasms, which happen most often in the night or evening hours.

Causes of Leg Pain and Leg Cramps During Pregnancy

Circulation Problems- as your uterus gets bigger it may put pressure on your blood vessels, resulting in poor circulation to your legs.

Calcium, magnesium or potassium deficiency.

Nerves- Weight gain and baby may put pressure on the nerves that lead into your legs, resulting in pain or cramping.

Edema- water retention can cause swelling, impeding blood flow and adding tension.

Blood clot- occasionally cramping or leg pain can indicate a blood clot.

Preventing Leg Pain and Leg Cramps During Pregnancy

Walking-taking a walk every day can help prevent leg pain and cramping. It is sometimes hard to get going, but once you do you will find a regular walking routine will help keep you looser and more comfortable.

Increasing Calcium and Magnesium- Make sure you are getting adequate calcium in your diet.

Wear Support Hose.

Exercise regularly.

Practice regular stretching- target your calf muscles regularly throughout the day and several times before you go to sleep at night.

Rotate your ankles and move your toes while you are sitting.

While you are resting or sleeping, try to lie on your left side.

If you are pregnant and experiencing pain in your kidneys you should always contact your doctor.

Kidney pain is generally caused by a urinary tract infection or kidney stones. Urinary tract infection is not uncommon during pregnancy. Pregnant women are at a higher risk for UTIs because a softening of the urethra occurs due to hormonal changes.

Symptoms of UTI include pain, burning sensation with urination, bloody, cloudy, or fowl smelling urine, abdominal pain, low back pain, or low fever.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

The relaxation of the joints, muscles and tendons occurs during pregnancy to help facilitate childbirth.

Your hips must relax and widen in order to birth your child. Your body, however, does not discriminate well between creating relaxation in one area or in another. It is, unfortunately a generalized process. The degree to which your joints relax will be different in everyone.

Causes of Joint Pain During Pregnancy

Hormonal changes- Hormones stimulate the relaxation of a variety of muscles in your body.

Weight gain- can place extra strain on your joints.

Postural changes- Your center of gravity changes greatly during pregnancy. This causes shifting throughout your body which can lead to joint discomfort.

Stress- stress adds tension to your body and can contribute to pain anywhere.

Preventing Joint Pain During Pregnancy

Be sure you are getting adequate calcium and magnesium in your diet.

Drink plenty of fluids

Practice prenatal yoga

Exercise regularly.

Practice stress relieving techniques.

Try not to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Wear good supportive shoes and avoid high heels.

Try swimming.

Treatment for Joint Pain During Pregnancy

Use ice or heat

See an acupuncturist or massage therapist

Have your partner practice hands on pregnancy pain relief techniques on your body

Take a warm bath. Try adding Epsom salt to ease aching.

When You Should Call Your Doctor

Your pain is intense.

You pain is accompanied by a fever.

Causes of Insomnia During Pregnancy

Hormones

Stress and anxiety

Vivid Dreams

Awkwardness and discomfort

Heartburn

Back pain, hip pain and other pains

Tips for Easing Insomnia During Pregnancy

Avoid heavy and spicy meals before bedtime and try to minimize fluid consumption in the evening.

Avoid caffeine consumption or at least decrease

Keep a regular schedule of sleeping and waking up at the same time.

Try to avoid naps late in the day or set an alarm clock to keep your late afternoon nap short.

Practice relaxation techniques

Get plenty of exercise, but try not to exercise late in the day. Finish up your exercising at least 3 hours before you go to bed.

Keep your room very dark. A blackout shade can be invaluable. Darkness helps your body produce more of the sleep hormone melatonin.

Keep the lights in the house dim at night to help stimulate melatonin.

Try eating a small protein snack before bedtime.

Make sure the temperature in your room is comfortable and not to hot or cold.

If you are unable to sleep get up for a while and read or listen to music until you feel sleepy enough to go back to bed.

Hemorrhoids are common in pregnant women. Hemorrhoids are swollen veins around the rectum that can cause pain or itching. Sometimes they may bleed

Hemorrhoids are common in pregnant women. Hemorrhoids are swollen veins around the rectum that can cause pain or itching. Sometimes they may bleed and protrude from the anus. If they are protruding you will be able to feel a bump or something like a small cluster or grapes.

The most frequent cause of hemorrhoids is constipation. Keeping your bowels regular is important in preventing hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids generally disappear after delivery.

Preventing Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy

Eat a lot of fiber.

Drink plenty of water.

Exercise regularly.

If you are constipated ask your doctor about a safe stool softener.

If you have the urge to have a bowel movement act quickly and don’t hold it in.

Try not to strain when moving your bowels. Pushing too hard creates hemorrhoids.

Practice Kegel exercises.

Take frequent breaks from sitting or standing.

Take a sitz bath. Soak your bottom several times a day for 10 to 20 minute intervals. You can do this in a small plastic tub.

Try ice packs and cold compresses or warm water. Alternate treatments or try them both out to see which one works better for you.

Use witch hazel pads.

Avoid scented toilet paper.

Wipe with moist towels or hemorrhoid pads.

Although this book can’t stop hemorrhoids it can help you with the other pains you may suffer. Would you give the Pregnancy Pain Relief book a try?

Heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, and sour stomach result from acid flowing from the stomach into the esophagus. Causes of Heartburn During Pregnancy...

Heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, and sour stomach result from acid flowing from the stomach into the esophagus.

Causes of Heartburn During Pregnancy

Hormones- During pregnancy your body releases hormones which relax the muscles in your body. This can cause the muscles that close of the upper stomach to relax, releasing gastric acid from your stomach into your esophagus, causing irritation.

Eating acidic or greasy foods- Spicy, highly seasoned, fried food, fatty foods, tomatoes, citrus fruits, vinegar, and mustard can contribute to acid stomach.

Baby- Your growing baby puts pressure on your stomach, giving you less room. This can literally squeeze the contents of your stomach out

Morning Sickness- morning sickness, nausea and vomiting can also create heartburn.

Preventing Heartburn During Pregnancy

Eat small, frequent meals- Eat little meals every few hours instead of big meals. This will keep you from over-filling your stomach.

Chew Your Food Well- Chewing stimulates your salivary glands and helps digest your food better, faster and more completely. Saliva can act as a natural antacid. Even chewing gum after a meal can be helpful.

Avoid caffeinated beverages, tea, coffee, and sodas. Also chocolate, acidic foods like citrus, vinegar and tomatoes, processed meat and spicy foods. If you are going to consume acidic foods try adding a pinch of baking soda.

Don’t lie down immediately after you eat.

Wear loose fitting clothes.

Walk around after you eat- walking and movement stimulate your digestive process.

Sleep with your head propped up slightly Try placing 4-5 inch blocks or bricks under the foot of the head of your bed. This will incline your bed slightly and help keep the contents of your stomach inside your stomach.

Exercise regularly.

Drink plenty of fluids.

Treatment for Heartburn During Pregnancy

Slippery elm tea or herb can be helpful in easing stomach acid.

Use techniques such as those in the Pregnancy Pain Relief book to help loosen abdominal tension and take pressure off of your stomach.

Follow prevention guidelines above.

Talk to your doctor about using antacids. Antacids can prevent the absorption of certain nutrients (like tums) and may slow down the digestive process. Ask your doctor which antacid is safe to use.

When You Should Call Your Doctor

Your pain is intense and interfering with daily activities.

You have rhythmic pain with cramping.

The Pain Relief book may not be able to stop heartburn, however…. don’t suffer another moment with the other pains you are experiencing. Would you give the Pregnancy Pain Relief book a try?

Eyes Open Childbirth Hypnosis Our Hypnobabies Home Study Course for Expectant Mothers is for women who want to ENJOY their baby’s natural birth by using hypnosis to eliminate pain and fear.

Hypnobabies Home Study Course is an advanced Hypnosis for Childbirth course, using CDs and our Hypnobabies Workbook to prepare for birthing with little or no discomfort.

Hypnobabies is based on Master Hypnotist Gerald Kein’s Painless Childbirth Program and is extremely successful.

It is the only childbirth hypnosis program that teaches “Eyes Open Childbirth Hypnosis”, allowing the birthing mother to walk and talk and move around during labor, and yet remain deeply in hypnosis, relaxed and physically comfortable throughout. This is a very important feature for labor, to enable you to use upright positions for descent and positioning of your baby.

You must be prepared to learn self-hypnosis techniques which you will practice on a daily basis until your baby is born, and this is such and easy and naturally enjoyable daily routine!

You’ll use our Hypnobabies Workbook, CDs and hypnosis scripts to train the inner mind that contractions in labor will be felt only as pressure, tightening, pushing and baby movement sensations.

Hypnobabies uses the same kind of hypnosis techniques that people employ when preparing for surgery without any medication, which is called hypno-anesthesia.

Our classes also teach the Hypnobabies Birth Partners how to fully support our Hypno-moms, although Hypnobabies can also be used very successfully by single mothers.

Here is what ladies just like you have said about Hypnobabies.

Review #1

Would never have another baby without it,

After 3 medicated births that were not what I wanted out of my birth experience I did some major research for my fourth baby. I found Hypnobabies and ordered the home study course. WOW!!! What a difference.

I felt so in control and empowered. I had a pain free birth that was more than I could have dreamed for. In fact my husband who is an OB/GYN and has seen hundreds of births said, “I didn’t know childbirth could be like this.”

I make sure I tell everybody I know about Hypnobabies because I know what an amazing birth experience it gives to Moms and their babies.

I don’t think there is a better gift to your baby than being able to bring it into the world gently and joyfully without any drugs in their system. It’s a gift I’m thankful for everyday

Rachel Skinner

Review #2 Best decision we ever made!,

During my first pregnancy I took a live class from a different hypnosis for birth program, and was very disappointed. So I really did my research into all the available options before investing in the Hypnobabies Home Study.

In my opinion, it is so far above and beyond anything else available on the market that it is in a category all its own. The Hypnobabies Home Study is amazingly complete, easy to learn and use, and resulted in an amazingly enjoyable birth!

The natural childbirth information is invaluable and the self-hypnosis skills have been life-changing. They worked powerfully during my baby’s birth and I have discovered many wonderful ways to use them daily since then.

They are excellent birth and pregnancy skills, but also life skills that I use to eliminate stress, improve my sleep and handle daily discomforts for me and my family.

My husband loved the fact that even though his schedule didn’t allow him to be very involved in my preparation for the birth, he was able to quickly learn very effective and simple ways to play a huge role in my comfort during our natural birth.

During the birth, my caregivers were amazed by how calm, happy and interactive I was.

They nearly sent me home because I was “too happy to really be in labor”. They realized their mistake moments later when they discovered I was fully dilated and ready to birth my baby!

They now recommend Hypnobabies to all their moms who are interested in having a truly comfortable, enjoyable birth. It’s amazing!

S. McClutchey, North Carolina

Review #3

Hypnosis for Birth… it’s not as wierd as you think!,

I used the Hypnobabies method to birth my second child in March of 2008. What a difference!!!

Many of my friends looked at me like I had a third eye when I told them I was using hypnosis for a pain-free birth. I promise, it is nothing like stage hypnosis!

This is the most relaxing, normal thing you could do to prepare for birth. Just spend about 45 minutes a day for the six weeks leading up to your baby’s birth listening to a CD and practicing some very easy hypnosis skills. I did this when I laid down to sleep at night… EASY!

A great side benefit was I had some of the best pregnant sleep ever (if you have pregnancy insomnia, you know how horrible it can be).

I also conquered my fear of needles and can now have blood drawn without fainting using my hypnosis techniques.

You will not regret buying this if you commit yourself to the preparation outlined in the program! Try it and see how amazing your baby’s birth can be.

Not only did I use Hypnobabies myself, but my doula clients have as well.

I turned to Hypnobabies after two typical hospital births with an epidural. In my case, the epidural didn’t work! I became highly motivated to find a better way to birth when expecting my third. I didn’t want a repeat of my prior births, which were long, and excruciating.

My first Hypnobaby was a surprise unattended homebirth, it was that easy!

My second Hypnobaby we had at home. There seemed little point to risking a birth on some freeway when we could do it safely at home. Both births were painless, wonderful, and I felt so good afterward. I’ve had workouts that were harder!

My clients who have done Hypnobabies have all had wonderful births themselves, peaceful and completely comfort.

There are several keys to the success of Hypnobabies.

First, it’s a complete childbirth program. There is no need to take another class, thus introducing the very fear of birth you’re working to eliminate.

Second, it’s the only program that uses up to date medical hypnotic anesthesia to give you the tools to control what you feel during birth.

Third, there is a bounty of information on staying healthy and optimizing your chances of having an easier, shorter birthing by using diet, exercise and even physics (interesting that we forget that physics applies even in utero)! I have yet to see a more thorough program.

The Hypnobabies home study program was so easy to follow and SO helpful for my husband and I. It has helped relax me so much as well as boost my confidence about birth and my body.
Without a doubt, this program is a must have for pregnant women!

I used the Hypnobabies program with my second pregnancy and birth and could not be more thrilled!

My first baby was born naturally, but I basically ‘muscled’ my way through on sheer will power (30 hours of back labor and an hour of pushing while the doctors and nurses yelled at me to push harder).

When I got pregnant the second time, I knew I wanted things to be different this time around. I did a lot of research on hypnosis for birth, and chose Hypnobabies because it was the most complete program I could find.

I started using the affirmations early in my pregnancy, which really helped put me in a positive state of mind. I loved all of the CDs and looked forward to listening to them, and had a truly PERFECT birth.

My birthing happened exactly as I had visualized (using the Visualize Your Birth hypnosis script)… starting in the early morning, getting stronger in the afternoon while my son napped so I could use my hypnosis without interruption, then birthing at dinnertime (I was only off by 27 minutes on the birth time from what I’d visualized!).

It was around 11 hours from my first pressure wave to birth, and only 6 hours of active birthing, with just 11 minutes of pushing. I felt calm, comfortable, confident, safe, and lovingly supported the entire time.

My husband knew just how to help me because of the great tools Hypnobabies provides for birth partners.

The only sounds while I was pushing this time around were my husband reading me birth prompts, and me using my ‘peace’ cue to move my anesthesia around my body. It was so peaceful and beautiful, and I felt so connected to my baby and the entire experience – absolutely exactly the way I wanted it!

I showed my birth video to my family last weekend, and my Grandma said, “I never knew birth could be like that!” My sister-in-law said, “Natural birth doesn’t look so bad with hypnosis.” And she’s right – my birth was perfect! Thank you, Hypnobabies!

I had an epidural with my first baby, but wanted a drug-free birth with my second.

I took a class in another hypnosis method and while there were some helpful things in that course I still felt unprepared and unsure of how to really use hypnosis during my baby’s birth.

I ordered Hypnobabies and I am *so* glad I did! Hypnobabies gave me several very effective hypno-anesthesia techniques that allowed me to give birth completely comfortably without drugs!

I highly recommend Hypnobabies for any woman who wants an easier, more comfortable birth without using medications.

I have used hypnosis for childbirth for my last two babies. Hypnobabies was the most complete, informative, useful, effective method that I found. The tools that the program teaches are so valuable during birth and even in other aspects of your life.

It is so nice to be able to go into a deep state of relaxation and hypnosis instantly whenever I need to. The program is very straightforward and easy to follow.

It does take a consistent effort to learn and practice the techniques, but the reward is amazing.

This is a great value for all of the information and techniques you will learn. It has everything you need from the consumer issues of childbirth (who to chose as a provider, do I need an IV?, what do I include in my birth plan?), how to stay healthy and eat well, anatomy of pregnancy and birth, self hypnosis techniques to stay relaxed and comfortable during the birthing time, to benefits and tips on breastfeeding and new baby care.

If you are interested in a natural birth and think hypnosis may be a great tool to help you stay comfortable, then this is the most complete method available today.

I chose to do the Hypnobabies homestudy course 3 years ago when I realized there were not any certified instructors in my area.

I started the course around my 25th week of pregnancy and made sure that I practiced everyday until my sweet baby was born…It wasn’t hard to do because listening to the scripts (cd’s) is so relaxing and enjoyable!

I feel it gave me time to center myself each day, stay positive about pregnancy and childbirth, and bond with my baby at the same time.

I appreciate that Hypnobabies is a COMPLETE childbirth education course and there was no need for me to take any other class. Everything I needed to know about pregnancy and childbirth was included (in detail) as well as the MANY tools to have an easy and comfortable birth.

After laboring mostly at home I got to the hospital and was already 9cm dilated! I had no idea because I was comfortable and relaxed (not even the nurses realized I was that close to giving birth).

With the help of Hypnobabies I was able to have a pain-free birth and I would HIGHLY recommend Hypnobabies to anyone striving for a drug-free birth.

Wow, I just had to leave a review because of how amazing this program is.

I admit I had my doubts while I was studying it but I am so glad I stuck with it and put my faith in it.

My daughter was a planned midwife assisted homebirth. Pressure waves started, I put my headphones on, called the midwife an hour or so later to let her know I was in labor, told her not to come yet since not much was happening, and then 45 minutes later I was pushing!

My husband caught my daughter while my mom called the midwife!

It was an awesome wonderful birth. I had zero pain which is why my midwife did not make it. The pressure waves were incredible;

I actually looked forward to each one.

Ironically I had an epidural birth for my first baby and it was excruciatingly painful. Funny how the one without meds was totally pain free.

Constipation is one of the most frequent complaints among pregnant women.

Causes of Constipation During Pregnancy

Hormones- Your body is rapidly producing hormones which have a relaxing affect on all the muscles in your body. Your intestines also rely on muscle tissue to move waste through your body. This laxness in your muscles results in a slower digestive process.

Pressure from your growing baby- Your baby and your uterus are growing and pushing on your intestines and rectum. This pressure can put the squeeze on your organs causing constipation.

Thyroid- a low thyroid hormone can contribute to constipation.

Poor diet- Improper intake of fiber.

Insufficient exercise.

Dehydration

Preventing Constipation During Pregnancy

Be sure to drink plenty of water- Dehydration is a common cause of constipation. Drinking 8 glasses of fluids a day can help keep your bowels moving.

Increase fiber intake- eat high fiber foods, cereals, whole grains and lots of fruits and vegetables every day.

Exercise- Movement stimulates digestion and your bowels. Exercise regularly.

Practice prenatal yoga

Treatment for Constipation During Pregnancy

Prune juice or prunes

Ask your doctor about Milk of Magnesia or other safe and gentle laxatives

Take a fiber supplement such as psyllium to add moisture to your bowels.

Talk to an acupuncturist or massage practitioner.

Learn about techniques such as those in the Pregnancy Pain Relief book to help alleviate some of the pressure on your bowels.

When You Should Call Your Doctor

You haven’t had a bowel movement in more than 3 days

You are experiencing vaginal or rectal bleeding

You are having severe pain
